Range
Ranunculus asiaticus (the Persian buttercup) is a flowering plant of the buttercup family Ranunculaceae. It is a protected plant in some jurisdictions (in particular, Israel). This is the well-known Ranunculus with large colourful, double flowers and, although usually grown from tubers, is quite easy to grow from seed. A superb new strain of Ranunculus, flowering in as little as five months from seed, extra dwarf in habit with very small leaves, it produces gorgeous, larger-than-life, fully double flowers 31⁄2 ins. or so across. Although actually bred for use as a pot plant (a frost-free, well-lit greenhouse will give flowers in March - one plant to a 4 inch pot - from an autumn sowing), the plants are hardy and should survive most winters. Colors include pink, red, rose, white and yellow.
