Description
Anemone trifolia is a perennial herbaceous plant of the genus Anemone (Ranunculaceae). It is very similar to Anemone nemorosa and lives almost in the same areas. The stems are 10 to 30 cm tall and bear single white flower, which is 2 cm in diameter and has six elliptical tepals. The anthers are white, which is the most striking difference between this species and A. nemorosa, with yellow anthers. The leaf is divided in three lanceolate segments and are grouped in a single whorl of three leaves per stem, like in all the members of the genus. The rhizome that spread just below the surface is whitish. It spreads to form dense groups of individuals. This plant lives in hardwoods, beechwoods and hedges.
